WebThis post will cover everything you need to know about tachs, including how a mechanical tachometer works and if they’re even needed nowadays. What is a tachometer used for? A tachometer measures an engine’s rotational speed and gives us a readout in revolutions per minute (rpm). The higher the meter reads, the faster your engine is rotating. WebPT-500 Speed Sensor. The PT-500 tachometer is suitable for attachment to any non-driven pulley rotating in the range 24 to 3000 RPM. A low speed option (PT-501LS) suitable for 1 to 50 RPM is also available. An optional Tachometer Drive Assembly is available, to simplify installation of the PT-500 speed sensor (it bolts to the conveyor stringer).
